I've been part of the Schertz/Cibolo community since 2004, back when Highway 1103 was just a quiet two-lane country road, surrounded by open pastures. During those early years, I worked hard, bussing tables and perfecting the art of smoking chickens at Goerke's.
My high school days were unique, as I used to ride my horse to Steele High School. I was deeply involved in our local community through organizations like the Guadalupe County 4H and Cibolo Creek FFA. What made those years even more special was my role as Nitro the Knight for three proud years before graduating in 2009.
After high school, I followed my passion to become a Firefighter/EMT, starting my journey at Blinn College and TEEX at Texas A&M in College Station. My career path led me to various locations across the state, including Austin, Corpus Christi, and Converse.
In another exciting chapter of my life, I became a certified Skydiving Instructor and had the incredible opportunity to travel across the country, experiencing some breathtaking moments. It was during this adventurous period that I met my beautiful wife, Chloe, close to our home in Luling.
As our family grew and our desire to put down roots took hold, we decided to return to the family ranch in Cibolo. That's when we truly fell in love with Schertz and the sense of community it offers. In 2020, we took the plunge and purchased our current home in the Northcliffe neighborhood, marking a new chapter in our lives while embracing the deep connection we have to this wonderful area.
I firmly believe that the purpose of government is to serve its people. In my view, responsible governance begins at the local level, where it's essential for the government to collaborate closely with its residents. Together, we can build an appealing and secure community that enhances our quality of life while delivering vital services that enhance our city.
Family is at the core of my beliefs. I strongly support individual rights and the pursuit of happiness. I also believe that each of us bears a personal responsibility to actively contribute to the changes we aspire to see in the world. The values of leadership, love, compassion, honor, and duty all start within our homes.
My commitment to these principles and my desire to instill them in both my family and community are the driving forces behind my decision to run for the position of city councilman, representing my neighbors. I'm no stranger to hard work or daunting challenges. My experience as a leader in the oil and gas industry has taught me that with determination and teamwork, nothing is insurmountable.
I've witnessed firsthand the challenges my family faced during our battle with eminent domain, particularly in relation to the Cibolo Parkway Project. This experience has shown me the very real risks that come with unchecked growth and what can happen when a government prioritizes profits over the rights of its residents. It's a stark reminder of the importance of thoughtful planning in our community's development.
Learning about how local government functions and recognizing its tremendous potential to serve the people when dedicated individuals take action has been truly inspiring for me. Witnessing the deep commitment of my Northcliffe neighbors to preserve our quality of life as our city expands has further fueled my determination to become more actively involved.
Currently, I proudly serve on the Northcliffe PID Advisory Board, where my goal is to help our local community resist harmful development and protect our precious public greenspaces. If elected as a representative of my community, my mission is clear: I aim to be a voice for the people, advocating for our interests and ensuring that our community remains a thriving place for generations to come. We're in it for the long haul, and I'm dedicated to making our community a lasting and vibrant home for my family and all the families who call it home.
